FCA Track Event at Lime Rock Park, CT 2015
Aug 2015 The Ferrari Club of America (FCA) held two un-muffled track days at scenic and historic Lime Rock Park (LRP) in Lakeville, CT. Hosted by the FCA’s Empire Region, and sponsored by UBS and Miller Motorcars of Greenwich, CT, we had an excellent turnout. The recently repaved LRP paddock was filled with race and street Ferraris, a few Porsches, BMW’s, and other marques.
The Challenge Club Racing Series (CCR) held practices and races at Lime Rock Park in between our Ferrari track event run groups. The CCR is a drivers series for Historic Ferrari Challenge cars not eligible for the Ferrari Factory Challenge series. Challenge cars must run in original stock factory configuration (with a few approved changes), and the rules of the series follow the original format for which the cars were designed.
The series differs from the original Ferrari Challenge Factory series insofar as it strictly forbids car-to-car contact. Neither driver was faulted in this serious incident earlier this year at Road America; CCR Race crash.
At LRP a Ferrari 458C made hard contact with the guardrail at Turn 5 before the Uphill during the first CCR race. However, the driver was fine (the car, not so much) and no other race incidents. It is a tribute to the proper safety features of race-car and driver equipment.
The LRP Ferrari Club Track Days had no incidents, just good fun. The Ferrari Club is a fantastic group of owners and enthusiasts. To join the FCA click here Join the Ferrari Club
